Nurlan Smagulov called on the owners of shopping malls to sign the memorandum with Emergency Departments of Almaty and Astana.
The tragic events in the Kemerovo shopping mall «Zimnyaya vishnya” made the people of Kazakhstan to give a serious thought to fire safety issues. The specialists of the MEGA network were the first to respond them, and not only to respond, but also to take additional measures so that visitors could feel maximum safe here. The Director of the company, Nurlan Smagulov initiated the signing of a memorandum with the Emergency Departments of Almaty and Astana for extraordinary inspections of all shopping malls of the network. Currently, legislation provides conduction of such inspections once a year.
— We think that it is not enough to inspect the premises of shopping malls once a year, therefore we want to sign a memorandum with the Emergency Departments of Almaty and Astana to conduct extraordinary inspections of our shopping malls. And I call other owners of trade centers of Almaty and Astana as well as regional centers to join this memorandum, so that people could trust our trade centers. We want them to be able to come at any time and conduct inspections on a regular basis and have no legislative restrictions for doing that, — Nurlan Smagulov said.
Fire safety briefing was attended by a number of reporters and bloggers of the city. Briefing was given in the format of some public hearings where everyone could speak out, and the management of MEGA network promised to continue the work on fire safety and to eliminate shortcomings that may occur.
— We know that our fire-fighting systems function 100% properly, but these tragic events made us to be more scrupulous about inspection of these systems and we will do this work by all means, —said Director General of MEGA malls network Seitzhan Yesmagambetov.
Each of three MEGAs has a complete complex of fire fighting measures: fire alarm equipment, automatic fire alarm system, several fire-extinguishing systems, smoke exhaust system, fire exits and escape stairs, own fire brigades and fire fighting vehicles which are available 24 hours a day. Condition of all systems is inspected every day. Fire drills with specialists of Emergency department are conducted once a month.
