Smagulov: Firefighters shall check all Shopping and Entertainment Centers more often than once a year.
Such a proposal was made by the owner of the Mega chain during a meeting with representatives of the public.
All interested parties were invited to familiarize themselves with the fire safety of the Mega Alma-Ata Shopping and Entertainment Center on Tuesday, March 27. First, the guests were given a tour of the office premises: there are people who provide security for the visitors to the Shopping and Entertainment Center. First of all, the guests were taken to a service room with several large screens, on which «the pictures» from all video cameras installed in the Shopping and Entertainment Center are displayed. As the specialists have assured, the cameras are installed so that there are no blind zones. The experts are constantly watching to what is happening behind and, if necessary, they will ring the alarm.
After that, the guests were taken to a classroom where all employees of the Shopping and Entertainment Center and the tenants are trained in safety. In addition, in the classroom, the fire safety officers of the Shopping and Entertainment Center study the examples of fires that have occurred in the world — so to speak, try to learn from other people's mistakes. When the guests entered this room, the fire safety officers of the Shopping and Entertainment Center were looking at the fire reports in the «Winter Cherry» shopping center in Kemerovo.
Then the guests were taken out of the Mega Alma-Ata building to show two fire engines that are constantly present on the territory of the Shopping and Entertainment Center, as well as the tanks with water, which shall be enough for three hours of fire extinguishing. According to the representatives of the Shopping and Entertainment Center, the water level in the tanks is checked daily.
After the guests looked into the tanks and made sure that they were full, the guests returned to the Shopping and Entertainment Center, where a fire alarm was about to ring. Before the start of the planned fire and tactical training, the representatives of the Shopping and Entertainment Center said that there are 46 evacuation exits in the building of the Mega Alma-Ata Shopping and Entertainment Center, as well as the fire cranes equipped with sleeves, trunks and fire extinguishers. In addition, the fire extinguishers are available in every boutique of the Shopping and Entertainment Center. Moreover, the chain of Mega Shopping and Entertainment Centers has its own fire department, where 70 firefighters are working.
Participants of the event decided to watch how the visitors of the Shopping and Entertainment Center will be evacuated during the planned fire and tactical training in Happylon, an entertainment complex for children. There was not a voice announcement of the evacuation, but the Mega Alma-Ata came there and warned about the start of training.
All the shortcomings were announced on the spot to Nurlan Smagulov. the owner of Mega chain, who met after the training with the participants of the event. The businessman promised that they will take into account all comments and correct all the shortcomings. Moreover, he said that the chain of Mega Shopping and Entertainment Centers is signing a memorandum with the Emergency Department of Almaty and Astana that their specialists can check all Shopping and Entertainment Centers that are the parts of the chain more than once a year. He also invited other trade and entertainment centers of the country to join this memorandum.
— We believe that it is not enough to check the Shopping and Entertainment Center once a year, and we would like to sign a memorandum with the Emergency Department of Almaty and Astana about unscheduled inspections of our Shopping and Entertainment Centers, to let them come and check when they need it. And I urge other owners of the shopping centers in Almaty, Astana and the regional centers to join this memorandum, so that the public can trust our Shopping and Entertainment Centers, so that the Emergency Departments can always come and check, despite all legislative restrictions. We will voluntarily sign this memorandum and urge other Shopping and Entertainment Centers to sign it, — said Nurlan Smagulov.
